"The Archetype is the brainchild of our R&D lab. Designed to be the ultimate powder board. A board that dominates in the steep and deep but can tackle any terrain you put in its way. The unique shape and considered design add up to produce something that will always put a smile on your face.
The first thing you notice about the Archetype is its unique kicked swallow tail. Unlike any other swallowtail this follows the profile of a more traditional tail shape, rising up from the snow. This drastically improves all round performance over any other swallowtail board without sacrificing hard snow performance, making it incredibly versatile. The tail also acts like a hot fork through ice cream, driving down into powder to lift the nose and keep you surfing effortlessly. Another advantage of the unique tail shape is stability when landing thanks to the addition of 2 carbon beams. These extend from the centre of the board out to the end of the tail. Unlike solid tails that fight against soft snow or typical swallowtails that are super loose and wash out, this makes the tail hold strong and slide smoothly into the snow giving you the most solid platform you've ever felt. Combine this with our Hover Camber profile and an aggressive taper that ranges from 25-30mm (depending on size) and you get a board whose nose will never sink, no matter how deep it gets.
Despite its wider size, the Archetype is no more difficult to handle than your daily driver. This is achieved by blending Poplar and Paulownia in the core. This is lighter than our standard wood core but with a greater strength to weight ratio and better response.
New for 1819 is our redesigned Smoothride Sidewall. This builds upon our original award winning technology and helps reduce our overall impact on the environment. A more efficient manufacturing process cuts waste without sacrificing the impact and vibration absorbing properties, helping to provide the smoothest ride possible. Fibreglass layups are also enhanced through the use of tri-axial glass that includes a pre-cured layer above the core for more response and torsional rigidity without adding weight. And of course it's all finished off with the Channel mounting system for infinite stance adjustment.
The graphics for the Powder Quiver Series has always been designed to evoke an emotional response. This developed into our signature black on black theme combining textural matte prints over the highest gloss finishes. This creates a graphic with true depth that draws you in and captures your mind. This season a matte centre spreads out to the nose and tail, melting into the smoothest gloss you’ve ever seen."
